To be guaranteed that we can fit you in our schedule we recommend you book
your diving course at least ten days in advance. |

In the PADI Divemaster program you will take your first step into the world of professional diving.
With Divemaster certification you will be qualified to lead licensed divers on underwater tours, conduct certain PADI courses, aid in the classroom and much more. During the extensive Divemaster training,
you will gain much of the skills and knowledge you will need to become an instructor yourself.
The Divemaster program is a demanding course in which you will be expected to master many different aspects of diving. The course covers the physics and physiology of diving and gives you a deeper knowledge of equipment, dive charts, decompression theory and the underwater environment.
Furthermore, you will have to master all Open Water skills and be able to perform them in demonstration quality - slowly, calmly and clearly. You'll also gain more experience with rescue scenarios and navigation. Before being certified you will have to complete a rescue scenario, formulate an emergency plan for a
local dive site, and also make an underwater map of a local dive site. These are just some of the skills
you will need for the course. It is an extensive and intensive course meant for divers who want to make
the jump from being a recreational diver to possibly beginning a career in the dive industry.
Before you can begin the course you must meet the following requirements:
 |
Be a PADI Rescue Diver and have a current EFR license for adult CPR. |
 |
 |
Be in good physical condition and have a signed medical clearance stating that you are in good health for diving. (Before being certified you must have completed at least 60 logged dives.)
|
| |
|
Before starting the course you will also need a current Divemaster Crew Pack. This includes all of the course materials you will need. (If you need help in finding the crew pack, please Contact Us.) The materials include a Divemaster Manual, the Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving, Diving Knowledge Workbook, and special underwater slates.
The Divemaster program can be divided into four main sections. Here is a more detailed look at each section: |

This is where you will use the books in the Crew Pack. You are expected to study both independently
and guided by your instructor. You are also required to have a superior command of the materials in
the Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving. The Diving Knowledge Workbook is laid out in such a way that
it reviews the main topics you are expected to know from the Encyclopedia and Manual. With a quick independent study pace, it is possible to finish the books in about two weeks. At the end of your course
you will be required to take a lengthy test covering the materials, so it is a good idea to continue
reviewing throughout the duration of your Divemaster course. |

A good Divemaster must be an accomplished and competent swimmer. The course includes a rigorous swimming test comprised of 4 different swimming skills. It is highly suggested that you practice before trying to do the skills as you will be rated based on your performance and can receive a non-passing
score if you cannot complete the skills within time limits set by PADI. You will be scored on a scale of
1 (poor) to
5 (excellent) in the following:
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
  |
|
| |
You must demonstrate a mastery of all confined water skills you learned in the Open Water Course.
It is a good idea to review practicing these slowly and clearly, in a calm manner. This is because you
will have to demonstrate them to your instructor who will evaluate your ability on a scale of 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent) and your total cumulative score determines your passing or failing.
(You can refer to your Open Water manual for a complete list of the 20 skills.)
Not only will you have to demonstrate the skills to your instructor, but you will partially play the role as instructor! You are required to do an internship of sorts and actively take a role in the Open Water
classroom and confined water training. You will be asked by your instructor to demonstrate certain
skills to students and also to explain some things during the classroom sessions.
You will also once again get a chance to hone the skills you learned in the PADI Rescue Diver Course.
You will have to complete one rescue scenario and also develop an Emergency Plan for a local dive
site here in Saipan. |

In the PADI DIvemaster you will use all of the skills you have previously learned, but apply them to
new skills that prove to your instructor that you qualify for the rating of Divemaster. You must show
complete confidence, control and knowledge in completing the Divemaster-level Skills.
The skills can be completed in any order you wish. The are as follows:
 |
Gear Exchange
To complete this requirement you must chose a diver of a certification level below the Rescue Diver level. With this person you must remove all gear (mask, BCD, fins) and exchange while buddy breathing with only one of either person's regulator. There is no time limit within this skill must be performed.
|
 |
 |
Dive Site Mapping
You must (with either a buddy or with your instructor) make a map of a local dive site. You must independently navigate, chart, note depth and headings, and create a map of sufficient detail to be used by a person with little knowledge of the site. Your buddy or instructor is only along for safety. The work must be done by you! After several visits to the site, you should have enough measurements and specifications to create a map. More details about map-making and techniques to be used are discussed in your Divemaster Manual and you can consult with your instructor during the map making process (but not receive help during the planning dives). |

|
The Divemaster program is of such a nature that it truly depends on the person doing the course in determining how long the course lasts and therefore how much it will cost. If you dedicate yourself fully
it can be completed within a month, possibly less. Of course this also depends on the time of year you chose to take the course, as Saipan's tourism industry fluctuates between high and low periods, and
you need Open Water students to fulfill your internship program with your instructor. By all means,
Contact Us with a time frame in which you would want to complete the course and we can keep you
alerted to when students will be taking courses that you could participate in.
Also, due to the length of the course, please let us know if we can be of any help in arranging longer
-term accommodations. We are here to help you! Any questions or concerns about the Divemaster
program are expected and welcome. |
